We all wish to capture those precious moments and ones in our lives. It may be our family or friends. It may be our pets or companions. It may even be objects of significance to us.
Our approach is to capture an image which highlights the character, relationship, or significance of that which you hold dear. Not a sterile picture, but one which captures the nature of the subject. As we often mention it is about telling a story - a story which is meaningful to you.

I don't do the Mall type portrait pictures of children and parents nicely lined up. I don't do the pictures of bored looking families sitting under a tree.
I want you to tell me the nature and the character of the subject, their favourite things, what they enjoy doing, what your favourite memories with them are. I want to work with you to try and capture that personality.
The object is to capture the personality of the subject, in a manner meaningful to you.I prefer to photograph the subject in their natural or relevant surroundings. I like subjects enjoying what they are doing what they love, and capturing them doing it. That is my photojournalist style of taking natural photographs which tells the viewer about the subject. It's always about the story.

I have also produced and published a book - "Dogalicious-ness" - capturing dogs at public events. The project was to capture dogs being dogs - those patient companions who accompany us on our many outings. The range of expressions, which we can translate into human emotions, was truly remarkable in the subjects, particularly when you engage them directly.
In this delightful book, street photographer Antonia Sims shares her history with dogs and their influence on her life.
More than that she has dozens of wonderful images capturing that magical moment of the ‘first time meeting’ when a dog meets someone new, as well as dogs just chilling when unaware they are being watched. It is in these moments that their true personality and character is revealed by their pure and unfiltered expressions. “It was a gruelling job. Nowhere else have I been showered and overwhelmed with so much affection” Most of the images are accompanied by inspirational quotes about dogs. For any dog lover or afficianado, this is a must have. |
